Algar Dole is an off-hand blown glass artisan currently residing in Silver Creek, Georgia. Algar has studied in Seattle, Washington and Corning, New York with Josh Simpson, Milton Townsend and Ralph Mossman; with private lessons from Alan Goldfarb; in addition to demonstrations and lectures from David Levi and Sam Stang.
Algar also has extensive experience in the construction of hot shop and glass fusing equipment and studios. His Italian Techniques include Ballerino, Filligrano, Latticino, Reticello, Incalmo, Dupio Incalmo, Novecento, Pennellate and Primavera.
Algar currently blows glass and is a resident artist at Duckbill Studios.
In order to push the natural visual excitement of the ordered chaos in nature, I use the medium of hot glass. All components of a piece are attached hot at the furnace. Vessels and gourds are blown with solid work for the leaves and vines. Similarly, the sunflowers consisting of a blown seed pod and stem and solid petals, are connected together with hot glass.
